Ingredients
For the Dough
1cupplain flour
1cupwater
⅓cup+ 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1teaspoonsalt
2tablespoonssugar
1teaspoonvanilla essence
1large egg
For the Coating
1cupwhite sugar
1tablespooncinnamon powder
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat and gradually stir in the flour until a smooth dough forms.
Remove from heat and transfer to a large mixing bowl. Let cool for 4–5 minutes, then add the egg and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric hand mixer until smooth.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray, such as coconut oil. Transfer the dough into a piping bag and pipe bite-sized churros into the basket, leaving space between them. Alternatively, drop small spoonfuls of dough if preferred.
Lightly brush the churros with melted butter and cook in the air fryer for 10–12 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
In a shallow bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Toss the hot churros in the mixture, brushing lightly with melted butter or spraying with cooking spray if the sugar doesn’t stick. Serve warm with chocolate syrup, Nutella, or honey.
