Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the yeast with ¼ cup of warm water (110°F) and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix thinly sliced butter, sugar, and salt, then pour in the remaining ¼ cup warm water and let it sit while the yeast activates. After 5 minutes, whisk until somewhat combined.
Add the egg yolk and yeast mixture, then stir in the flour until just incorporated. The dough will be slightly sticky; if too sticky, add 1 tbsp flour at a time until manageable.
Brush a 9×13-inch baking dish with 2 tbsp melted butter, spread the dough evenly, and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rest for 15 minutes to rise slightly while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Remove the plastic wrap, brush the top with remaining melted butter, and sprinkle evenly with mozzarella, parmesan, garlic salt, and oregano. Bake for 28–31 minutes until the edges are deep golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Allow the breadsticks to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into 8 pieces. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
