2tablespoonsunsalted butter
2large yellow onionsthinly sliced
½teaspoonsalt
¼teaspoonblack pepper
8ouncessmoked Gouda cheeseshredded
4ouncescream cheesesoftened
½cupsour cream
¼cupmayonnaise
1clovegarlicminced
1tablespoonfresh chiveschopped, for garnish
Instructions
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions, salt, and pepper, and cook for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft, golden brown, and jammy.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, mix shredded smoked Gouda, softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and minced garlic until smooth.
Fold in the caramelized onions, then spread the mixture into a small baking dish.
Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
Sprinkle with chopped chives and serve warm with toasted baguette slices, pita chips, or crisp vegetables.
