2cupsmilkdairy or plant-based
4cinnamon sticks or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
4vanilla beanssplit and scraped, or 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
2star anisesoptional
4teaspoonsloose-leaf black tea or 4 black tea bagsoptional

Instructions
Bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil in a small pot. Add cinnamon sticks and split vanilla beans (plus star anise if using). Turn off the heat, cover, and steep for 10 minutes. If using ground cinnamon and vanilla extract instead, stir them in after boiling and skip steeping.
For a stronger flavor, add the black tea once the spices have steeped. Brew for 3–5 minutes, depending on how bold you prefer.
In a separate pot, warm 2 cups of milk over low heat until hot but not boiling. Watch closely to prevent scalding.
Strain the spiced water infusion into the warm milk using a fine mesh strainer. Discard the solids and stir to combine.
Sweeten with honey or your preferred sweetener. Serve hot in mugs, or cool and pour over ice for a refreshing version.
