What is Keto Key Lime Pie?

The core components of a key lime pie are the biscuit crust, a creamy filling, and either meringue or whipped cream on top. It is a traditional American dessert. It can be prepared in various ways, including cheesecake-style pies, crustless pies, no-bake pies, and as we’re about to demonstrate, in ketogenic fashion.

This exquisite keto dessert is a show-stopper and makes the best use of those fresh limes. It employs straightforward ingredients and needs little preparation. This dish may seem exceedingly elegant, but I assure you that it is incredibly simple to make. There is no need for grains or sugar, yet you wouldn’t know it.

  • Condensed Milk: Making your own sweetened condensed milk is the first step in this recipe for sugar-free sweetened condensed milk. This item can be prepared in advance. Only 3 ingredients are needed: butter, powdered sweetener, and heavy cream. It’s simpler than you may think. Creating a batch a few days before making your pie may save you time if you are making this keto pie for a special occasion.
  • Egg yolks: Egg yolks help to thicken the pie. The filling will harden after baking and cooling due to the acid in the key lime juice.
  • Lime zest and juice: We add fresh lime zest to enhance the sharp lime flavor. This enables the lime flavor to be stronger without adding too many extra carbohydrates from the key lime juice.
  • Keto pie crust: We are preparing a buttery, flaky pie crust for this low-carb pie recipe. However, you can also use the store-bought graham cracker pie crust.
